About Ilayna

Hello! I’m Ilayna, the founder of Pawsitive Pawz Inc., where we believe every dog deserves to shine. My journey began with a career as an elementary school teacher, where I worked with behaviourally challenged children. This experience ignited my passion for understanding behaviour, which naturally extended to dogs.

It all started in Toronto, Ontario, where the behaviour of my well-trained dogs piqued the interest of neighbours. Their curiosity about my “secret” led me to offer guidance and support, quickly becoming my calling. Following a severe injury that kept me from teaching, I focused on dog training full-time. I learned from the esteemed Dr. Ian Dunbar, known as the “Father of Positive Reinforcement.”

At Pawsitive Pawz Inc., we draw on evidence-based training methods to help dogs and their owners achieve harmony and understanding. Our mission is to make your relationship with your dog a positive and rewarding experience.

My dog journey continued with one client training their anxious dog and seeking our help to include their pet in their wedding. Inspired by this experience, I recognized the growing desire among couples to have their dogs participate in weddings, engagement shoots, and other parties related to weddings. I developed a comprehensive service to meet this need.

Woof, woof! Hey there, future furry friends and pawrents, I’m Dexter, the wise and experienced West Highland Terrier! I may be a seasoned pup at 10, but I still have plenty of tricks up my furry sleeves.

My mission here at Pawsitive Pawz Inc. is to help puppies stop those bouncy, jumpy habits, teach them good manners, and guide them toward becoming well-behaved doggos. I’m the go-to guy for learning pups to strut their stuff confidently during our walks. If any of my canine buddies feel a bit scared of their furry pals, I’m here to lend a paw and help them overcome their fears.

You can find me on a toy-hunting expedition when I’m not on the job. I have a knack for finding brand-new toys and giving them an excellent old-fashioned tear-down – it’s my way of staying in touch with my playful side. Oh, and I love sniffing around for tasty treats. Who doesn’t, right?

Nap time is a sacred ritual for me. I take my beauty sleep seriously to be at my best when protecting my backyard from those sneaky chipmunks, squirrels, crows, and rabbits. They won’t stand a chance with me on guard!

So, if you’re looking for a chill, experienced doggy trainer dedicated to helping your pup become the best they can be, look no further. I’m here to lend a paw and share my wisdom. Woof! 🐾

NOTE: Since I just turned 11, I have only been helping part-time. My mom is setting me up for retirement soon.
